A Report 

Department of Library and Information Science, Assam University, Silchar in collaboration with National Library, Kolkata (under the Sponsorship of Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India ) organised" Four Day Training Programme on " Open Source Library Application Software for Library Services " during March 28-31, 2013. The Programme was inaugurated by Prof. K.V. Nagaraja, Hon'ble Pro Vice-Chancellor, and V.C I/C, , Assam University, Silchar on March 29, 2013. Welcome address was given by Dr. Manoj Kumar Sinha, Associate Professor & Head of the Department & coordinator of the Training Programme which was followed by address by the Guest of Honour Dr. R. Ramachandran, PLIO, National Library, Kolkata and Prof. Sumanash Dutta, Dean, Swami Vivekananda School of Library Sciences, Assam university, Silchar. At the end of the Inaugural programme , Vote of Thanks was offered by Dr. Mukut Saramh, Assistant Professor & Asst Coordinator of the programme. A Cultural evening was organised on 29/03/2013 which was followed by dinner. 

Prior to this programme was started with the registration of participants and interactive session on March 28, 2013. Many eminent resource persons from North Eastern State and West Bengal have delivered their lecture and given hands on practice to the participants in different technical session spread over during March 28-31, 2013. 

Altogether more than 130 participants have attended the programme. Dr. R.N. Mishra , Mizoram university, Aizwal; Dr. Subarna Kumar Das, HoD, DLISc, Jadavpur University, Kolkata ; Dr. Kishor Chandra Satpathy, Librarian , NIT ,Silchar; Dr. Manoj Kumar Sinha, Associate Professor & Head, DLISc, Assam University, Silchar; Dr. Mukut Saramh, Asst Professor , Sri N.C. Dey, Asst Professor, DLISc; Dr. (Mrs) Sumana C Sarmah, Deputy Librarain & Librarian I/C ' Sri Apurba Jyoti Majumder , Asst Librarian from Assam University , Silchar were resource person who have delivered lectures and given hands on demonstration. 

Valedictory Programme was organised on 31/ 03/2013 at 4.0 P.M. The Programme was graced by the presence of Prof. M Ansari, Dept of Economics, AUS & Chief Guest and Prof. D.K. Pandiya was the Guest of Honour. After distribution of the certificates, the formal Vote of Thanks was offered by Sri Nabin Chandra Dey, Asst Professor & the Asst Coordinator of the programme. 

On the basis of the participation and content , the programme was a grand success. The Organising Committee members acknowledged the financial support form the National Library (Ministry of culture, Govt. of India ) and extend sincere thanks to Assam University, Silchar authorities for extending support for making this programme a grand success.
